The landowner, Wickford Farm Ltd, and the project team are preparing an outline planning application for approximately 370 homes designed to meet local market and affordable housing needs. We believe the site represents a sustainable location close to local amenities and the A127. This makes the site a logical extension of this corner of Wickford.

The project team is also exploring the potential delivery of an on-site healthcare facility and/or making financial contributions to the National Health Service (NHS) and the education department for upgrading local facilities as part of any future planning permission. We are keen to hear your views on this.

The project team is working with the planning department at Basildon Council to make sure this scheme complies with planning policies. The project team are of the view that the site can be defined as Grey Belt land and as such are in the process of ensuring that the ‘Golden Rules’ will be met in relation to the delivery of 50% affordable housing (to be provided to local people on the Council’s housing register); the provision of up to 50% public open space on-site; and the delivery of the infrastructure required to cater for the development.
